Though they they seem similar, friend and fan relationships have quite different purposes on Musicane.

  • Fan—this is a following relationship. You become someone’s fan when you subscribe to them not just to their feed. You become a fan to identify yourself or your taste with that person and at the same time subscribe to their feed. If you only want to follow their taste, subscribe to their feed.

Feeds and Mixes

Like friends and fans, feeds and mixes are similar but quite different.

  • Feed—a stream of all products, music, and people you are interested in and recommend. You place products, music, and people in your feed from any action bar using the Add to feed button. When you put any thing in your feed it is broadcast to everyone whose has subscribed to you (your fans) or directly to your feed.
  • Mix—a list of products, music, or people you’ve brought together as an expression of taste or as a product. Unlike a feed, a mix is both a presentation and a product. It even has it’s own profile page. As an example. a music album is just a mix of songs or tracks with some cover art. A mix, like any other product on Musicane, can be added to any feed.

To summarize, the mix is the product and the feed the broadcast.
